Cape Henlopen Food Basket

WHO WE ARE

The Cape Henlopen Food Basket (CHFB) is an emergency food service that provides assistance to Delaware residents.

We are a non-profit corporation, (501 (C) 3, in operation since 2002. We are a completely volunteer organization.  Our 70 or so volunteers order and manage the food inventory, meet and serve clients, train new volunteers, maintain financial and client data, participate in community events, and complete all other necessary tasks.  Our volunteer board of directors makes organizational decisions to support our clients and volunteers.

Our food is supplied by the USDA, the Food Bank of Delaware, local supermarkets and other vendors, food drives, and by our own funds.  We are supported in our mission by The Lewes Rehoboth Association of Congregations, by grants to non-profits, and by a generous community of organizations and individuals.

WHAT WE CAN PROVIDE

We provide needy families a 7-10 day supply of canned and frozen food, meats, bread, and fresh produce as well as a supermarket voucher for dairy products.

HOURS OF OPERATION

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  We are closed on federal holidays.

Weather Notice:  For snow or other weather events, The Cape Henlopen Food Basket is closed when the Cape Henlopen School District is closed.
